Twilight Zone
The region known as the Twilight Zone lies between the extreme contrast of the Glaciers of the West and the Endless Wasters of the East, perpetually in the dawn. It is characterized by frequent storms and strong winds. It is the home of the peoples of the burrows who live in underground cities to take shelter from the elements.
Geography
The Twilight Zone's most prominent feature is the mountain range that encompasses its entire width of a little more than 120 km. To the west, there is a small stretch of taiga and a larger expanse of tundra and small seas that transition into a landscape of small islands and frozen seas. To the east, there is a modest grassland area that transitions into a savanna and eventually into a full desert.
Fauna & Flora
The Twilight Zone biome is devoid of trees except for a few areas sheltered from the wind by the mountains. In consequence, most vegetal lifeforms are herbs and shrubs that manage to thrive under the winds.
Within small seas, the most usual fauna are sturgeons, catfishes, eels, basses, flounders, arowanas, salmons, trouts, crabs, lobsters and shrimps. The most feared fauna is a monster known as the giant crab, a crustacean the size of a person that can grow up to the size of an elephant if lives long enough.
In the tundras, there can be encountered grizzly bears, reindeer, a large breed of wolfs known as wargs, owls, lemmings, musk oxen, seals, sea lions, and walruses. Among the monsters, it reigns supreme a predator known as the ash drake, a wyvern with the ability to breathe fire.
As far as the grasslands and savannah go, there can be found lynxes, caracals, leopards, brown bears, goats, snakes, deers, fennecs, gazelles, vultures, horses, hedgehogs, rodents, lizards, wild asses as well as griffins. Among the monsters, there can be found giant horse-sized arthropods, especially scorpions and ant lions.
Underground life is very scarce besides those grown by agriculture and cattle but the powerful arcane energies liberated during the joining gave birth to some iron and earth elementals that lurk in remote places. Eventually, enormous ants the size of a person and huge centipedes the size rivaling the height of a giraffe can be found. Other monsters and threats that can be found are in the form of slimes and molds.
