Heat Crystal

Heat Crystals are purple-ish minerals found in Kryros that serve as an energy source. It has been recently discovered as is theorized to have been formed by the clashing energy of the previous shards that composed the world.

Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

This mineral has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, feels hot to the touch, and its typical shape is a six-sided prism that ends in six-sided pyramids. It's mostly chemically inert until submerged in water at which point starts heating violently, making the water boil. When the reaction ends, the Heat Crystal has turned into sand. It also heats up upon physical stress, but this process doesn't consume the crystal.

Geology & Geography

It is found in a lot of different places, but always in the Twilight Zone, in dry zones, and below 100 meters of depth.

History & Usage

Discovery

It was discovered by neandertal scientist Omorkes Sapper when she accidentally burnt herself when touching it with her hand full of sweat.

Everyday use

Crystal Heat is used for calefaction, but more often as an energy source for machines. Commonly is ground into small pieces for a more controlled reaction.

Hazards

While ambient humidity is usually safe it is advised to keep away from any kind of condensation of other forms of liquid water. It is also advised to dry the sweat of the body before handling the Crystal.
