Saltmarsh Town Council

For about half of its existence Saltmarsh had no formal government or leadership, relying solely on communal efforts to keep things going.

As the Marsh grew and took on more structure its major players came together to avoid greater conflict and grow the town. They agreed to form a Town Council, comprised of no less than three and no more than five Saltmarsh residents as elected by the populace.

Elections are held every year or earlier if a majority of councilors vote for a special election. There is no such thing as campaigning in Saltmarsh.

Candidates announce their intent on election day in front of the Full Net Hall and votes are counted by that evening in front of anyone that wishes to be present. Turn out for elections varies as much as the tides and usually hinges on how things are going in the Marsh.

While all Salts are welcome to run for a position on the council it is typically the same familiar councilors elected over and over again.

Today the Town Council has grown to a slightly swollen six members. Half are traditionally elected, the council that was in residence before the other half were newly appointed by the King of Keoland.

This has created real tension in Saltmarsh, especially since not only are these appointees Founders, but one, Manistrad Copperlocks, isn't even from Keoland.

Officially there are not supposed to be any meetings closed to the public, but with newfound royal attention to the region more and more business seems to be cropping up outside of the Full Net Hall. Otherwise, the Saltmarsh Town Council meets every Godsday at Vespers in the Full Net Hall.
