Canyndor Castle
Canyndor Castle, or "the White Castle" lies upon the volcanic crag in the epicentre of the city of Canyndor, within the Grand Duchy of Canyndor, Doria. The crag itself has been a site of habitation for millennia, however, fortifications would become continuous on the site beginning with the establishment of the Caenen Kingdom. At that time, the site would be little more than wooden palisades, with a wooden central keep. It wouldn't be until the formation of rival kingdoms, especially that of Bolot by Ardic tribes, that defences would begin to morph into more formidable structures of stone. It is believed that the oldest section of the current day castle is the Lords Tower, itself being the tallest tower of the complex, at the base of which huge sections of polygonal stones have been seamlessly bound together, on top of which more modern extension has left an imposing tower largely disused by the Grand Duke's of the last several centuries.
The castle complex can be divided into two sections: the upper bailey where the grand halls and Duke's chambers lie is surrounded by a curtain wall and can be seen for miles around. This section is accessible only to the most prestigious of guests and to the Grand Duke and his family, it holds the most important and vaults and chambers that must not fall in the event of siege warfare. The lower bailey is almost a small town in itself, housing many buildings containing guest apartments, storage for food and supplies, and merchant workshops and such considered essential by the Grand Duke himself. This lower section is contained by an impressively thick curtain wall that includes great bastions that look over the crag's steep walls, from a distance this great whitewashed wall will amaze travellers on their journey to Canyndor.
