Firestarters

Firestarters are worshippers of Balaei.

History

As all The 10 Pillars religions did, they emerged some time after Disus Kape discovered The 10 Pillars Structure. Worship for Balaei truly kicked off during the Revisal War, driven by the fervent energy of the time.

Tenets of Faith

Firestarters presents these as their tenets:

Embrace passion. Harness creativity. Persevere relentlessly. Live intensely.

Ethics

Firestarters are encouraged to live with vivacity, passion and intensity, to put their all into whatever it is they do. This can often be interpreted by other as Firestarters being willful and chaotic. They mostly would not deny this. There is also an expectation to stand true to oneself and your desires, but also to your promises, especially ones made with the heart. Strength, bravery, and creativity are all important elements of a Firestarter's life. They are not to allow themselves to be held down.

Worship

Firestarter temples maintain a continuously burning flame somewhere on their grounds, ranging from a single candle to a bonfire depending on the temple's size. Bonfires generally are a popular form of showing worship, often surrounded by energetic dancing or other expressions of passion and energy. Shows of faith may often be described as 'instinctive, passionate and wild'.

Priesthood

Advancement in the Firestarter priesthood often involves trials designed to prove the hopeful's dedication and passion. Combat trials are popular, but other options may be presented. The leader is known as the Burned, and must prove themself through a series of trials designed to test all elements of their worship and character, from combat to romance, before taking the role. The Burned may be challenged at any point to take the position. Flamebearers represent the religion in local worship spaces. Newcomers to the priesthood are often referred to as 'sparks' or 'sparkies'. These terms are sometimes used for general worshippers as well.
