Shrine of the White Sun
The last structure left standing in Krezk, the Shrine of the White Sun stands next to a small pond. Through the power of the spirit inhabiting it, the only damage done to the gazebo is to the multiple layers of paint on it. The pond nearby seems to shimmer amongst the ruined buildings and those standing nearby often claim they can just hear a woman's voice if they focus.
Unseen Witness
Ilona Darovnya will respond to any efforts by a good-aligned character to speak to her. She knows of all the events she lived through in life and is aware of the days of Fall of Krezk as well as the new citizens of the town. As she believes this all to be a never ending punishment for not protecting Tatyana Federovna and Sergei von Zarovich, any information she does give will be framed as negatively as possible, omitting the positive and neutral whenever possible. If given proof of Ilya's survival, her attitude improves greatly and she asks that the party takes the holy symbol embedded in the floorboards to him so she can watch over him.Purpose / Function
It was originally a place for clerics in training at the Abbey of Saint Markovia to rest and meditate to the sound of water. This continues to be a place of quiet worship for the people of Krezk even after the fall of the Church of Andral.
Meta-wise, this is being used both as the last place in Krezk left standing after the Abbot's rampage and to help tie the 5e module to the old lore via Ilona Darovnya's ghost.
Alterations
Early on an unknown cleric set a permanent enchantment of Calm Emotions on the building. After the fall of the Church of Andral, Ilona Darovnya spent most of her time under its roof and thus ended up bound to it after death. When the upkeep of the shrine passed to the townsfolk, they often gave troublesome teenagers the job of painting the Shrine. Now that no one at all remains to apply more, the centuries of paint now peel back in many areas like layers of skin to reveal the dark red wood beneath. After memory of Andral passed, a pinewood carving of the Morninglord was placed in the center facing east.
Architecture
The shrine is a circular wooden gazebo made from near ancient redwood painted with layers of white. The trim and railings have decorations of sunbursts and small birds all over them, some holding carved torches in their beaks. The roof is covered in shingles and is surprisingly sound for it's age.
