Fogglass

"It was a worthwhile investment, even if it did only give them a small amount of clarity over their last days..."
— Caretaker of someone with Eclipsal Memory

The Veil Parted

Though a Fogglass looks like a relatively simple pair of spectacles, if one looks closely they can see lightly enscribed runes along the rim of the lenses, as well as the frames.   Usually constructed by a Runescribe Jeweller out of a golden wire from the The Golden Depths and specially made glass, Fogglasses carry an enchantment to serve their purpose, allowing the user to see through the mist that clouds them and percieve what's real. Due to the delicate nature of them though, the process for this enchantment is time consuming, difficult, and by no means cheap. Though the main purpose of a Fogglass is to allow people afflicted with Eclipsal Memory to see through the eclipse, there have been other ways to utilize them, including uses in adventuring as a way of seeing through illusions.

A Lens, Delicate

Due to the enchantments placed upon them and their already delicate nature, a Fogglass is a finite resource. If someone were to use them a few times a day for a week, they would find their Fogglass opaque instead of transparent, a telltale sign that they no longer function. Most people who purchase a Fogglass tend to use them where absolutely necessary as opposed to when desired, especially due to the difficulty in procuring them.   Though many hope that the enchantment of their Fogglass can be renewed without having to purchase a new one, the issue lies with the lenses. While you could feasibly replace them with newly enchanted lenses, it would be more convenient, as well as generally easier, to acquire a new Fogglass.

I am personally intrigued and enjoy the idea of this item. As to if its missing something...only thing I can think is if you wanted to go into the 'how its made' a little more here, though with it being an enchantment, perhaps a magic template is where you would rather do so, if you wished to offer such a thing. It is fun to not fully know or understand however, as I imagine most in universe do not.   Besides that the only other thing I can think of, is the lens just ordinary glass before the enchantment? Or like the golden wire, is there something unique about the raw glass material as well, it seems you did not say anything, which may lead the reader to think the glass is just....well plain old windowpane style glass, which in our real world even, is not the case with eyeglasses.   Otherwise, brilliant, its a neat item that seems interesting and a true medical breakthrough from the sounds of what it seems to help. Well done :D

Beautifully written and a compelling idea. Really curious to know more!

Beautiful. I love the idea that the glasses can be used to help pierce the eclipse. I also like that it is finite, because that makes people really have to think about when to use it. (Love the header for that section, too)

I like how it is finite. It makes the product a sought-after commodity! Very good.

Aah, I remember this one! I thoroughly enjoy the concept of the glasses allowing the user to see the truth, albeit briefly. The fact that it can turn 'useless' also makes for an extra dynamic when using the glasses. I bet people think at least trice before wearing it.   Keep up the great work! :D
