The Lodge
Description
True to its name, The Lodge is a large log cabin-style building with three stories and a large clock above the heavy wooden doors. Two rooftop porches with railings are on the third floor. Through the small barred windows, the comforting warm light of fire can be seen. Inside, you find yourself in a tavern that feels somewhat large for the small population of the town that you’ve seen. Directly in front of you, there are three long beirgarten-style tables, and to the left, there’s a long bar made out of a single piece of highly polished dark hardwood. A small fire burns in the large iron hearth at the back of the room, low and comfortable-looking chairs in front of it. Booth style leather seating takes up most of the right side. An austere staircase leads from directly to the right of the door, around a corner, and upstairs, leaving several booths underneath it. The place looks impeccable; you get the impression that there hasn’t been enough time since the place was built for it to get too broken in. As you reach the top of the stately staircase, you see two narrow but comfortable hallways to your left. The first hallway is all doors, with numbers painted onto square plaques in the center. Directly ahead is a door with the number “1”, and also the label “Innkeeper”.The second hallway has fewer doors, as a generous hearth and common area opens up just past the Innkeeper’s room. A round table with a gingham tablecloth and a small flowery centerpiece is surrounded by cushioned chairs. The attic can generously be called the third floor of the Lodge. A room in each corner created a cross-shaped interior. Directly ahead of where the trapdoor lets out is a small, barred window. The other two walls each have a heavy wooden door with a latch, and a door bar sits at its side, with the hooks for it on either side of the door.
Outside the doors are symmetrical rectangular rooftop porches with 4.5-foot railings. The roof slants down on either side, the rails joining them at the intersection. The Southern-facing porch offers a look at the River Asherton, and beyond it, a view into the courtyard of some tenements. You can also see some of the shops and buildings on Cork St, and can make out the top of the temple building. It is clear that this is the highest point in the village proper.
New Additions
After the conclusion of Murder at the Lodge (Campaign 1), The Lodge expanded its grounds:
- An outdoor biergarten with wooden tables and benches, and an expandable canvas onning that can cover about half the area when it rains. The onning was designed by a Chelu-kaan inventor commissioned by Henrietta.
- A new wing was added to the East side of the building (facing the forest) for additional rooms.
