Public House
The Public House
The Public House is an open-door building where citizens can come to make complaints, bring disputes, or gain an audience with Captain Caydense or Captain Sultana. Baron Iverfort is also known to take meetings in the Public House rather than at his own home, particularly when dealing with common civilians. The antechamber is a relatively small room. There are doors on either side of a large wooden desk, behind which a guard is constantly stationed. Directly behind the desk, the town Bulletin Board is located. The door to the right is attached to the main guard office building. The door to the left leads to the public offices of Sultana (first door, on the right) and Caydense (a bit past Sultana's office, to the left).Sultana's Office
Sultana's office is, in a word, drab. It is clearly a place where practicality is valued over ergonomics. It's not exactly unorganized, but it also isn't exactly orderly. On a somewhat old-fashioned mahogany desk, stacks of papers are often haphazardly stuffed in a box on the left to be signed. When necessary, Sultana makes his notes in a well-worn notepad in shorthand Celestial. A straight-backed leather chair sits behind the desk, and a single wooden chair is pushed against the wall with the door for whoever might need it. Sultana apppears to be a bit oversized in here. There is a small table in the corner of the room where a whetstone, polishing cloth, and armor maintenance kit sit. This is the most organized part of the room; clearly it sees much use.Caydense's Office
Caydense's office is meticulously organized and clean. The two side walls are dominated by racks of scroll cases, each labeled in a neat hand in Elvish. A large map of Lient'roc at surface level hangs on the long wall. Beneath it, technical maps of the Caverns are pinned. Each of the maps are dotted with tiny colored pins, each with a miniscule label attached to the rods. A curious desk made from circular, horiztonally cut sections of dew wood trunks takes up the center of the room. The disks are of varying heights, and they swivel about as required by the user. Some are at standing-height, others on a level with the simple wooden chair, and others that look adjustable. It is clearly of Chelu-kaan make. There are no stacks of miscellaneous papers in this office. Caydense keeps a meticulously organized filing system which he can use very efficiently, but is pratically nonsense to most other people. An incredible Chelu-kaan bow rests on a custom-made bow rack near the ceiling above the maps of Lient'roc. Intricate carvings of thorned vines and spiky leaves decorate the limbs of the bow, which are considerably wider than a traditional longbow. Rather than a single bowstring, it appears to have been strung four times. A matching quiver with a silver cap is artfully hung on two hooks below the bow.The Guard Complex is the base of the Port Shimmerly City Guard. It contains four buildings:
- The Public House
- The Offices
- The Wayside
- The Barracks (as well as relevant bathhouses, etc)
