Session 10

Ingrid and the Imposter

General Summary

Recap

In the morning Arti was summoned to the captain. Alaric explained that he would send the volunteers down into the well to scout out how bad the situation is. Upon hearing this Muir and Saga decided to join as they believe Arti needs babysitting. Considering the 2 extra volunteers Alaric created a second group to scout out the coastline in search of more danger. Muir chose that Alexander, an adventurer she had briefly met previously, should come with us into the well, leaving Gunther and a couple of guards to search the coast. After brief planning and preparing the group headed into the well which was now covered with a metal lid. The plan was to be as stealthy as possible, see what we can see and get back out again. The cavern walls were covered with acrid marmelade given the entire structure a foul stench. In the cave we encountered subterranean lizards that looked aggressive but we sneaked past them. The lizards seemed to avoid the fungus as much as we did. We also came across a Musk Lily hiding in the marmelade and found some local plantlife. We followed the stream leading to the source of the well water. The stream ended in a pool with 30 ft above it a huge blob of acrid marmelade that seemed the block the natural water flow. What is now only a trinkle was probably once a steady current. In the blob itself there was a humanoid dark shape floating around. Curious about this Arti attempted to shoot the blob and missed. Saga got closer to the blob by standing in the water and tried to hit it as well and failed. Our noise alerted a fungizard that was slumbering in the pool. It is now awake and at least two of us have been spotted.

Summary

We defeated the Fungizard in the cave and removed the marmelade blockage. The humanoid shape in it turned out to be another fungus-based creature that looked like Ingrid. We brought it back to town, but because we're unsure it's truly dead as it didn't turn black like the lizard, we are keeping it in a cage outdoors at the docks.
After informing Alaric, he and Alexander came with us to find Ingrid who had left to gather herbs in the woods. In the woods we found out that Ingrid was trying to hide her tracks by placing multiple baskets and walking through the stream to hide footprints. Saga as a mastiff however could sniff out what direction she went and even could lead us to where she was, a secret garden hidden in the forest filled with medicinal plants.
The tensions are high as we are very suspicious of her and she seems to be aware of this. Muir managed to convince her to come to the docks to see what we discovered, while Arti stayed behind to investigate the garden. During this Alexander dissappeared (because he's a very stealthy man) and we don't know where he has gone.
Arti found a secret room in the garden filled to the brim with marmelade. Alarmed she sprinted after the group to warn them.

it drifts in the water but didnt turn black - is it alive still? o no were taking it with us

we were inside for maybe an hour
muir asks for cage to hold lady outside

Into the forest

european forest bit damp due to the weather
along a small hunting path to the left
footprints lead to a small dale/inlet with abundance of plants around little stream - ferns reed plant, lavender and mint...
Muir sees a abandoned wicker basket
basket filled with mush and there is a sickle - footprints headed into stream
Alaric can run quite fast
Multiple baskets on both sides - exactly the same
we follow stream up and down to find more tracks of Ingrid
Saga turns into bloodhound with fungal covered back
scent from upstream we head there
I keep being carried cuz im slow
footprints that leave the river
I drink the potion to be safe - but roll low
in little clearing - no wildflowers but well concealed garden with colorful plants berries, poppies - too organised to be growing in the wild
Alaric suprised by garden
in the center collapsed Ingrid - laying in the grass
Ingrid opens a milky white eye - a dog?
she sits up - knows saga aint a dog and knows muir is here
another basket filled with herbs
she doesnt want to be tracked which is why she put out the baskets
she isnt being entirely truthful
ingrid is going along to the docks
plants look all for medicine
there is a small burrow beneath the hedges very well concealed
1 to 2 m at best - chilly and man made square
suspended from ceiling nets filled with dirt mush growing
back of the room - slight shimmer like slugline - fake door!
marmelade everywhere obstructing the room
dragon turret guarding fake door - Nax box placed
alaric pretending to be somewhere else - alex is missing
Meanwhile with the group heading to the docks
alaric also think ingrid is sus
heading back the same way
saga is staying behind to look for me
I catch up Saga is now my mount
