Beastkin

Origin: The native tribes of Incontinence, many species are considered Beastkin. Beastkin have many diverse origins, ranging from ancestors cursed by the gods to the evolution of various animal species. At first, they lived in fear of gods and monsters. Some of the gods would live with the people instead of warring across the landscape and would gift them abilities and knowledge. After the gods became dormant was a period of unparalleled peace and co-existence with each other. They formed the founding tribes of each of the major families of beastkin that have descended from them in modern day. However no modern beastkin boasts access to the powers of the Origin Tribes and yearns to return to that time of knowledge and progress.

During Human Invasions: The Beastkin probably had it the worst during this time, as humans saw them as no more than animals. They collected them, bought and sold them, killed them and hurt them for pleasure. Many of the crimes committed against the beastkin of this time are too terrible to have been recorded in the annals of history. When their chance finally came to get retribution on their conquerors they unleashed their full wrath, even awakening old gods to empower themselves.

Post Human Invasions: The beastkin's loss of control and reliance on otherworldly power cost the land dearly, as it spawned new terrors across the land, Primals, the raw instinctual predator form of a mortal, and Tempystes, swirling miasmas of the celestials' overflowing energy.


Current Status: Suffering from their losses, and learning a valuable lesson, the beastkin have retreated into their habitats of old. They rarely make contact with other societies save for necessary trade, and the occasional free spirit that decides to leave home.
