The Lensherr School for the Psionically Active
The Lensherr School for the Psionically Active was the first school for psionically active individuals in The Terran Republic.
Founding
In 2610, The Lensherr School for the Psionically Active was founded by Dr Cevin Knottman just outside of Nyssa City on Mars. The first of its kind, it was founded with the help of Houses Knottman and Solarin. It was believed to be at the initiative of Dr Raleigh Jeffords, a specialist in psionic science and controversial author of the Human 2.0 paper. The founding of the school was controversial at the time, with several right-wing politicians calling it a "private spy and weapons training camp."Structure
As an atypical institute, the structure of the Lensherr School was structured differently from many of its peers. There was a portion of "normal" teaching staff, to cover the usual martian curriculum for the school's pupils, as well as a number of experienced psionic individuals who formed the Psy-Active Department, responsible for the development of pupils' psionic prowess and abilities. The Ethics department was also larger than in most other schools. Formed with a majority of Valtanist teachers, the department's mission was to teach the pupils the ethics of their abilties and their use in society. Finally, Dr Jeffords headed the Science Department, both to teach science classes to the students but also to work in coordination with the Psy-Active Department to further the study of psionic abilities.
