Waynesburg Neighborhoods
Waynesburg is a very large city, stretched out across some geographically diverse areas. It is important to remember that in many ways, the parts of this city function as completely different cities. This is very apparent when comparing the Old City to the area beyond the gully, Peterborough and Southbridge - the latter two virtually govern themselves, have a badly integrated economy, and at times engage in virtual competition with the Old City in particular. The areas between - the slums and the Adventurer’s Quarter - are very much a buffer - the Old City and the southern boroughs interact heavily with the areas between, and much of the commerce between them in fact takes place in the areas between.
This was true to some extent before the Troubles: after the Troubles, some areas, such as Peterborough, split off almost completely from the City.
Finally - the eastern side of the river is also very much distinct from the west side of the river. It is not possible to speak of it as quite a separate city the way one could speak of Peterborough/Southbridge - largely because it is itself very fragmented - and the neighborhoods on the east bank tend to interact with the west in a number of different ways. But there is a very powerful division between the two sides of the river that goes beyond the obvious divisions caused by the river.
