Steatopygia

Steatopygia is a genetic function in which excess fat, or a bias towards building a decent lump of it, works towards the haunches of a specimen to an abnormally larger bias than the rest of the body. Often this works in tandem with females bipeds, and is more pronounced among their naturally wider hipped bone structure. However this has been seen in either a minority of males, or in rare cases across a greater size of the species like Zekani in which chunkier and overweight males are almost uniquely equal with mare counterparts. This condition as a genetic function, can either be seen among a set group or culture of people, or found prominent and more common across the wider species, or even relate into other functions. For example, Ryclin and Tikerin both share a form of it that correlates into targeting protiens around hopping muscles, and as such almost the entire species from that form and structure share the same odds of it happening. Meanwhile lionkin selectively bred it over years into a more isolated group known as Pawslovians, who have also then carried it onto Pawslovicore and Liorin as well as quite a few cases of Tigon. To the current day it is highly unusual to see lion-related steatopygia without a connection to those ancestors.   Steatopygia can be seen effecting each case and individual a little differently. Sometimes it is a signal of weight-gain, and the entity in question just happens to have an overwheling first-case bias in fattening the flanks to a strong measure before it circulates to the rest of the body. In other cases, simply having the genes and a healthy enough weight can still push the small excess into pronounced bottom-heavy figures. Then as stated with some species, it can come with more serious and strange averse effects like tearing muscular components that allow elevated mobility. Steatopygia cannot be mistaken as a state of replacing someone getting fat. After enough accumulation and bad diets, the person can begin to gain in other places, and will eventually even out or turn grotesquely more unrecogniable from their original state, but in smaller stages it will be the backside that stands out the most while "normal" shapes without steatopygia tend to start growing out more evenly or in the central gut.

Affected Groups

Largely a female & feminine aspect. However it does vary a bit by species, with zekani being the largest. Some individuals or even whole species are more prone to showing the effects even at very healthy and controlled weight levels. Pawslovic lionesses and any deviating lineages from them are the most promoted examples that almost always mature into 'filling out' the back-end no matter the diet, but sometimes even slender asuan and ovebis as a stray example will show a 'bubble-butt' just because their genetic metabolism pushed a healthy amount of fat-stores into their tail-half.   In higher contrast with species rarely effected, its quite uncommon but present on females of the labris, jisuki, glayd, vulpira, & grounen species (roughly 25-30% for each, and quite a bit less for males), and tends to be around rarity and fiercely more isolated groups of maybe 4-10% across most species not named here such as tigiren, humans, saavi, reketta, drathnar, etc.

Cultural Reception

Steatopygia is actually among the more favorable side of "conditions" and unusual concepts out there. Typically, mammal and some broader bipedal anatomy favor some recognizable shapes, and certain forms, including a very prominent display in birth-cavity and wider hipped developments in females that are somewhat exaggerated by this condition's form. Steatopygia is considered a very strong factor in the rise to considering Pawslovian, tikerin, and vyllk very pleasing female forms, though in other cases it hasn't done much for ryclin or taur outside of occasionally marking one as exceptional or as 'the only alluring feature'. Its slightly less positive onto males, but barely a difference nor hinderance. In pawslovic and harpy traditions, females even play it up a lot in traditions. Harpies deliberately try to put on weight to gain more of 'the look' to flaunt in tail-raised dances, while as its more natural to islander lionesses their dances heavily invoke gyrating and undulating hip motions as well as combative hip-check bumps against another.   However there are still darker sides to it as well. For a start, the fame it brings to some is also the envy and jealous rivalry from others, and as an outlying feature, it can also still be used to pressure shame and humilation on some. In some very specific examples, Buttzelle and Clover are frequently mocked by even the people they surround themselves with. In the end as well, some may just not be impressed, or male mammals may prefer the more busty curves and find the opposite a bit more awkward or repulsive. Further there is even the worst ideal for the individual, that they are in fact exploited. Many species have lots of tender muscles and intramuscular fat able to come around, and some vulnerable races to this condition also tend to have far better tasting meat from these gains, hence how vyllk drumsticks are so popular, and why sycore cultivates lionkin focus more to pawslovians.
