Hop Decay

Causes

A medical condition in which a hopping muscular gluteus-maximus & hamstring or similar bodily system is compromised with fatty developments. This only applies to a select number of species with some anatomy formed for hopping, and dietary or metabolic issues that complicate it. Its often associated mostly with the ryclin species as Ryclin Hip Diabetes, or Diabetic Hip Syndrome. This is a form of ryclin diabetes, specifically called and designated its own place for how it occurs and impairs differently than some other functions might. Hopping is often considered vastly important to ryclins, and is a natural and easy form of their transportation, and even contributes to some hunter's success. Yet when enough fatty excess builds in the glutes, thighs, and/or legs, there's a chance continuous growth will eventually infest in the muscles that help hop will quickly become damaged. Due to the sensitivity and strong force required of the muscles, the actual point of their function almost abruptly stops once torn, and the victim will go from merely having a mild weight problem, to waking up with a loss to hop any considerable length.

Symptoms

  • Weight gain
  • Spinal or leg pains during long walks or jumps
  • Discomfort when sitting
  • Complete loss to effectively hop.

Treatment

Exactly as with their diabetes, treatment is often a more controlled diet, vitamin pills or physical therapy, and sometimes complete surgery.

Affected Groups

Among the reasons this gets its classification, it is sometimes considered a more specific risk of function to females. Males more often store excess in the central body and tail, while females before pregnancy tend to metabolize stored weight in lower regions, which actually manages to balance the hop with an easy center-weight until such a phase as diabetes hits. Males are still susceptible to it, but only a slim fraction, while almost a quarter of females are effected. As with diabetes, the demographics are otherwise the same, with the issue more prominent among Solavores than commoners, but also a risk for those over-consuming substances like drinks.   Tikerins in a less official sense also share a very similar condition they get from gaining to much lower body weight. However they may refer to it in different names or medical conditions, and its less common to even know if they have it since they hop much less or not at all. Some may even speculate this occurs more vulnerable in this that have not used their full leg muscles in some time.
Females among species like Tikerin and Kyois are expected to be vulnerable to similar conditions with excessive weight-gain.

Cultural Reception

Hop-decay is slightly more polarizing than regular Diabetes. It is believed that the harsh end of the reception comes from the failure and shame some feel in entirely losing their hop, and all that it brings. On the contrary, it is considered more of a positive signal from males. Males more often judge larger hips as signs of an un-partnered female, contrasted with changes sometimes brought by maternity. The growing symptom of Hop Decay almost becomes entangled into the sought-after look from partners. Yet this is equally as concerning and a turn-off to some others due to the aforementioned shame in not hopping, or even for fear that this condition or obesity of some sort might one day become more genetic if it is taken as a selective breeding measure.
