Hellion

Form of Hope

Hellions are what we call the second transformation stage that Demons go through in their lives. They are bigger, stronger, faster, and arguably prettier than their former form.   Hellions are the most commonly found shapes taken by Demons throughout the world, as the requirements for this evolution are easy, simply having good nutrition and reaching peak maturity as Imps. The main features of Demons, the horns, finally appear plain to see in this form. Considered adults no mattr the age, the Hellions can become part of the Imperial or Vanese society as soon as they finished this part of Demonic metamorphosis](organization:85df80d1-431e-4fd5-b9f0-a46fe87e5ffa).

Basic Information

Anatomy

Very close to Humans in terms of appearance, the Hellion demark themselves by their facial features and their restrained growth. Hellions present a dark sclera in their eyes, like the Imps they once were. The growths on their forehead reveals chitinous horns that continue to grow as they age, but never reach further than 8cm in length. Their ears are broader than Humans', and have pointy extremities. Another good difference to note is that Hellions can grow hair (Imps remain bald), but not beards.

Genetics and Reproduction

Hellions are the most active form of the Demon race in term of reproductivity. But that doesn't mean they can make a lot of offsprings. Hellions have a low reproduction rate, and a lenghthy pregnancy period that can last about one and a half year.

Growth Rate & Stages

Hellion's rate of growth is much slower than their former impish form. After the metamorphosis, it takes about eight years for them to reach the maximum height allowed by their physiologie before another metamorphosis becomes necessary.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Usually, names for Hellions are the same as when they were Imps. However, after centuries of history in the Demon Empire, it is not unusual for a Hellion to seek a name change by fightng in the Name-Pit, as a celebration for his evolution.

Beauty Ideals

The fewer wrinkles left from their Imp form, the better.

Common Etiquette Rules

Cleaning ears and horns before meeting strangers, maintain hygiene and brushing teeth.

History

When Hellions first came to be as a species, it was a massive shock. Imps had no idea they could evolve like a caterpillar turning into butterflies. It also came as a huge relief for Imps who have no capacity for bearing children. Evolving, as slow a process it is, was possible for a majority of Demons who managed to survive long enough and get enough nutrition to reach the evolutionnary requireents.   When compared by other, simpler species, Demons consider their odd metamorphic nature as proof of superiority, of a supernatural fate that is shared among their kind, and their kind only.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Hellions can procreate with evolved member of the Demon species like Archdemons and Demon Lords.
