The Child – Episode 6

Desdemonia enters.

Its branches withdrawn, its bark sprouting brambles, the Bastion Tree dared the villains to make another assault. Converged atop the Court Tree, they debated their options to move forward, casting spells and mulling over potential plans. Back in her guise as a wood elf emissary from the Torchwood, Desdemonia happened upon the idea of convincing the besieged elves that Princess Nimria was poisoned and that she’d arrived with the antidote. While the other villains slunk into hiding, she approached the central tree and made her plea.
In response, the tree’s bark melded into the image of a face and parlayed with her. An expert liar, she convinced them to admit her – through the Ambassador Tree. Before she departed, the other villains debated their best strategy – whether sneaking nearer or simply storming the branch the moment it opened. Armed with a phony vial supplied by Dr. Hughbert, Desdemonia hustled through the Ambassador Tree.
Along the way, she passed two chambers that strike her as odd. She descended first through what appears to be royal apartments, where the king and queen would dwell, and next through an obvious nursery, complete with a massive mobile-decorated ironwood tree. Surmising that this’s not the Ambassador Tree, Desdemonia nonetheless approached the branch. When it extended only enough to accept the vial, she deceived them once again, claiming she needed to speak the incantation over the antidote.
After a moment, the branch unfurled and, covered by a dozen elven archers, Queen Sionne emerges. Dressed in gleaming ironwood armor, her hair auburn as autumn, she demanded the vial. When Desdemonia made her case, her fiendish charm was enough to convince the queen and, Sionne’s arm around her shoulder, the succubus was lead inside the Bastion Tree. In the instant before the branch retracted, however, the Queen spotted Erick Idylvain in hiding.
As the villains began a second assault, the disguised Desdemonia was led through the cluster of elven soldiers and servants inside the Bastion Tree and towards King Maoras and the infant he cradled in his arms.
