Ožërhýŋ
Ožërhýŋ, or Ojjeirin is a Blivonian city located in the Amoŋot Desert. It is the westernmost of the major cities in the Blýfónic Valley, and holds a special role as an active mining center for the goods in the Arbin Watershed. It is the second-largest and second-oldest city in the desert behind Vërðïm, and is the capital of the Blivonian province of Itvesale. It has enjoyed a long and varied history, and has especially played pivotal roles in such ancient conflicts as the First Varhoŋïan War and the Varonian Civil War.
History
The city of Ožërhýŋ was initially founded in 25000 AYM as a settlement of the remnants of the Farïnýð Family, who had left the Ïlýrhonid Tribe after being reduced from 4,500 to merely 20 by a strain of Úmýïža in a epidemic known as the Syöwú-Iyöphl. The exact meaning is lost to time, but given that an individual with that name has appeared in the remains of the Family's section of the Žötó-Ïdhatón, it seems most probable that the city was meant to represent an ancestral protector/guardian of the Family in the aftermath of such a devastating event. However, further speculation exists, especially given the similarities between it and the nearby city of Óvarhën.
The Family's journey from the Ïlýrhonid Tribe was directed due west, taking the path south of the Nuzowli Mountain Range. This is likely due to the fact that traveling north by the Kairn River would have left them at the whim of the tribe of Varhoŋïð-Khalúš, who controlled the left fork of the river systema and were sworn enemies of the Ïlýrhonid Tribe. Throughout their journey, they remained adjacent to the Ëriðorn Ocean, braving the harsh climate of the Hýyó-Hayïd before meeting the Arbin Watershed, at which point they traveled north along the edge of the mountain range before pausing at what is now the site of Gúhúš-Ožërhýŋ, or Old Ožërhýŋ. The location of this Old Ožërhýŋ is actually slightly west of Howüš-Ožërhýŋ, or New Ožërhýŋ, which is its actual placement in the Political Map (shown below the former was originally directly adjacent to the Arbin Mountain Range. However, the city was so badly damaged in the Second Varonian War of 24720 AYM that it was decided not to repair the ruins but to build a completely new city a few hundred kilometers to the east.
The Farïnýð Family would govern the city for 24 years, becoming an informal member of the Öšdúu, or city-state, system of governance popular in the Hýyo-Wýðúr during this time. As such, its government was typically referred to as the Öšdúu-Ožërhýŋ. During their 24-year reign, the Family would see three rulers ascend to power: Šamh-Úrýo, Túržýïhr, and Að-Haŋaï. All three periods were characterized by rampant use of the rocks from the Arbin Mountains, first as food and building material, but later as the means for trade with other Öšdúu. This would unintentionally catalyze the First Varhoŋïan War, as the increased trade, both between the Öšdúu themselves and between them and Ožërhýŋ would worry the Maðúšýï, a powerful raiding group to the south. More specifically, they thought that increased trade would encourage the conglomeration of these individual city states into proper tribes of their own, making them harder to extort via their raids.
Old History (out of date :/ )
This wealth also attracted the Matousai who, from 25008 until 24976 AYM, frequently raided Ojjeirin, even establishing a subbranch of the Matousai at the city until the Matousian Civil War, when Ojjeirin came under control of the newly-formed breakaway faction, the Tauhudarb. This lasted until the Matousai signed the Pact of Ojjeirin with the Tauhudarb in 24976 AYM. This directed the city's stone directly to the Matousai themselves, angering other trade cities nearby and starting the First Varonian War, which lasted until 24974 AYM and led to the Matousai and Tauhudarb's influence greatly reduced, though the latter still maintained control of the city, as well as the dissolution of the Pact of Ojjeirin.
Not much is known of Ojjeirin's history between 24976 and 24811 AYM. In 24811 AYM the Matousai discovered a large silicon deposit and subsequently turned into Tiamthur. Despite this, the Tauhudarb rule over the city was stable and trade with the other cities continued, as the initial state of Tiamthur was one adverse to trading, and it wasn't until 24721 AYM that they began to trade. At this moment, the monopoly held by Ojjeirin faded, and concurrently, they began to resort to raiding nearby cities. This triggered the Second Varonian War, ending in the fragmentation of the Tauhudarb and the formation of rump states Rottol, Sachelu, and Sachelu, with Rottol retaining control of Ojjeirin.
In 24538 AYM the neighboring tribe of Sangus began the Varonian Civil War by taking Imohaus and Hivoer (in Sachelu). Because the military was gone, Lysath, the king of Ojjeirin, had to rely on volunteer forces to protect Rottol. Nevertheless, in the resulting Battle of Ojjeirin, the Sangians were defeated, and Rottol and the neighboring tribe of Sachelu eventually conquered Sangus.
