Öšdúu

An Öšdúu is a political system consisting of a single ruler whose territory comprises only one city, or any territory of similar size. Typically, an Öšdúu does not exist in isolation, but is chiefly identified as being situated in a geographical region consisting of multiple Öšdúu, whose individual territories are isolated from each other. The area between these territories is not under jurisdiction by any such Öšdúu, leading to an increase in crime, especially raids, in those spaces.

The chief time period in which the Óšdúu were most abundant was what is often cited as the Ýmor-Maðúšýï, which lasted from 25019 to 24910 AYM. During this period, the Hýyo-Wýðúr, that is, the cities in the northern Amoŋot Desert, were arranged as separate Öšdúic governments, resulting in most of the territorial space between the cities being used by raiding groups like the Maðúšýï to steal resources, decrease morale, and, in times when other Öšdúu opted to aid, blocking reinforcements.

This Öšdúic system, especially in the formative years of the Hýyó-Wýðúr, was also responsible for the cultural shift experienced in each city.
