Spooktober 2022 | Powers

Hallo, this is my first time doing any World Anvil event, so I'm really excited to see how this goes! This Spooktober will probably be about psionics so I can set rules for my world. I want to do enough prompts to get a badge, but I'll see what I can do for my first attempt.

Harvey ambled down the street and eyed each decorated house. Most of the houses had jack-o-lanterns on the doorsteps, but one pumpkin particularly stood out to him. It was relaxing on the doorstep and bobbing its head up and down. Harvey froze and stared at it for a few seconds. The pumpkin stared back at him. Suddenly, it beamed at him.
"Hello! How are you?" It cried in a high-pitched voice.
Harvey stayed frozen in his place. Since when did pumpkins talk? Or smile?
"Hi!" It said again.
"Hi?" Harvey stepped towards the house. "What are you?"
"Well, a pumpkin, of course! What do I look like?"
"A talking pumpkin."
The pumpkin frowned. With its candle inside it, it looked quite unnerving. "Do pumpkins not talk? Oh wait, maybe it's because they haven't been lit up yet."
"Wait, why would that make them talk?"
"Because," the jack-o-lantern answered. "Light gives us life, of course!"
