Triangular Sailing
As the Nimenra develop, few have been able to reach far beyond its shores. The currents have a tendency to work against explorers favour and for many countries, there are no good shipbuilders beyond the ones who creat river vessels. As the shores are few and far between, only the Kingdom of Ravero has developed the capacity to travel beyond the shores of Nimenra and into the rest of the world. With the help of triangular sails, Ravero has travelled far and beyond what the people and species of Nimenra have been, and meet others that also exist on this world...
Unbeknownst to the humans of Telamirein and dwarfkind, Nekuram have several harbours, two of which are capable of making larger vessels. Nekuram has begun experimentation into larger sails and vessels in efforts to make a tour around Nimenra, but this has never happened because of the failed expedition to attack Ravero from the ocean, in which the navy was never heard for again except for a surviving rowboat with three journals on it.
Therefore, it is safe to say that Ravero has a monopoly and a trade secret on the waters outside of Telemirein, for now.
What the expedition brought back was not news of Nekuram's possible position in the south or any for that matter results of the assigned task. Instead, the captain had veered off course and into the great ocean, meeting upon islands that were uninhabited, sea-monsters and surprising news, humans across the seas. What they had met upon was a people called Shuwei. The captain, Fenrik Klovhernsman, brought back the news after having stayed less than two months, hoping he be forgiven for his sudden disappearance and change of plans. This revelation would shake the foundations of humanity's origin for the eight pantheons, a new relationship was open, and new lands seemed like they were able to be discovered.
Availability
The Kingdom of Ravero is the only ocean travelling country on Nimenra, among humanity that is. The Dwarven Kingdom had a large port, but during The Great Quakes, it was almost completely lost. The harbour did not survive and the dwarves have just begun to rebuild the port town and create ocean vessels to begin larger-scale operations that once was started.Unbeknownst to the humans of Telamirein and dwarfkind, Nekuram have several harbours, two of which are capable of making larger vessels. Effect
The creation of the triangular sailing gave Ravero the capacity to travel long distances. The first organized expedition to explore possible ways to Nekuram by sea ended with the leading vessel capsizing in the harbour, making a fool out of the king who financed and the chief architect who built it. In response several years later, a new architect created two smaller ships with triangular sails and two with larger, more commonly used large square sails with a secondary mast that hade a triangular sail. These successfully made it out of the harbour and went on the journey for over five years. What the expedition brought back was not news of Nekuram's possible position in the south or any for that matter results of the assigned task.
