Desert Elves

The Desert Elves are a golden-skinned and dark-haired subrace of elves who live in the Empire of Asvathas in western Sol. They are a martial race, distrusting magic and preferring the sword and bow in battle. As such, they're known for their knightly orders, orders of chivalric knights who dot the land upholding the virtues of heroism and war. They make their home both in the western deserts as well as more urban cities near rivers and the coasts. As a culture, they value tradition, combat, poetry, and lineage. They tend to be suspicious of outsiders but have slowly become more welcoming as they have risen from feuding tribes to a world power in recent times. They make excellent fighters, making use of swords, axes, bows, and lances.

Culture and cultural heritage

They like to consider themselves distinct amongst the elven peoples but still value their ancient elven heritage, keeping closer to it than most surfaces.

Common Dress code

They tend to dress in all-covering robes, being covered in fabric from head to toe. They also usually cover their face when in public, especially when traveling. Their typical garb would have their face covered by a veil, sometimes see-through for women, and a turban. Those of a military bent might wrap the turban around a steel helmet. When in the deserts, away from urban towns, the color of robes and headdresses may denote tribal affiliation. Those of more affluence often wear very decorative and handsome clothes, robes of exotic colors and fabrics with embroidery.

Males of this culture are expected to be tough and able to use weapons effectively. While women are often meant to be as ferocious as the men in battle, in terms of personality, they are expected to be more inquisitive and thoughtful.
