Arcadia Sprawl
Arcadia Sprawl was once a factory town on the north end of Heywood, a place where its growing Hispanic population found work readily available. However, after the 4th Corporate War, economic instability began to ravage the stable factory life, and big job-makers began to outsource production, leaving much of Arcadia's population jobless.
Worsening matters, the bombing of Arasaka Tower drove corporate headquarters further away from the site of the attack, and as a result, the border-end of Arcadia and City Center has experienced a gentrification that further increased the cost of living for those on the lower level.
With many displaced across Night City, an urban rebuilding project saw the erection of 13 Megabuildings across the cities skyline, with Mega 13 landing right on the edge of Arcadia. While the housing crisis was solved, the factory jobs never came back, and as a result, Arcadia’s lower population turned increasingly toward violent crime.
Now Arcadia exists as a partially gentrified melting pot of upper class luxury spilled over from City Center, the remnants of a historically Hispanic population that has called it home for generations, and a new wave of gangs, edgerunners, and opportunists looking to set up discrete, low-profile shops in the shells of one of the neighbourhoods dilapidated factory warehouses.
