Barkolkatha

"Most bodari are peaceful whenever possible, but entering Barkolkatha is where we draw the line. After the fall of Aokhala, this is our most sacred island, and we will not have it befouled by anybody."
-Ukhu'Tali, The Shaman Queen

Home to Bodari & None Else

The second-largest island on The Six Seas, it's no surprise that Barkolkatha is seen as a fantastic prize for colonial powers. However, the island isn't such an easy take, for it is a sacred island for Bodari and holds an unknown number of them in its jungles and mountains. The bodari here are mong the strongest tribes, and hold many of the best shamans - ones potentially able to cast the third among The Curses of the Six Seas. It's also rumoured that the island has a number of magical wards placed to prevent unwanted trespassers.
The bodari here take an aggressive stance towards outsiders, not tolerating them for any reason short of a crashed ship, in which case the outsiders are helped until the ship is able to sail, and then forced to leave immediately. As such, little is known about the island by anybody but the bodari who live here.

Three Mountains, Three Tribes

A defining feature of the island is the three mountains which run through its centre. Each of these mountains - Uklinithi, Blkranutu, & Tarunkunli - each has one of the island's primary tribes named after them. These tribes, though friendly, have traditions very different from one another, so tribe members often find it hard to get along. Each tribe has gifts in a different type of druidic magic - plantlife, wildlife, and weather respectively.

Ramsande, Town For The Outside

On the southernmost point on Barkolkatha is the town of Ramsande, the only point on the island open to outsiders. It is sparsely populated by bodari, who only use it as a trading town, and do not allow outsiders in as permanent residents. Despite the small size and generally unfriendly nature, the town is often frequented by sailors of the northern Whaler's Blue, who find it to be a convenient rest stop before travelling further south to Port Cymbal.
