Aldoran Sovereignty
A large nation encompassing nearly the entire eastern coast of the West Irolian continent, this mighty nation has had quite the past. Declaring its independence from its mother country of Tor, back on the continent of Irolia, over 250 years ago (TR 7849), it is the oldest and largest nation on this continent. An important fact to note is that it was a bloodless, diplomatic succession that seemed to benefit both sides. This nation only recently became influential on the world stage, with their invention of electricity and the steam engine.
A major event in this nation's history was the Technoforged rebellion & emancipation.
The sovereign Gareth Aldan is a direct descendant of the man who brokered bloodless secession from Tor. They have always been fair and insisted on having a diverse council to share responsibility of ruling and lawmaking. The initial settlers were so impressed with their leader's ability to garner peace without war, it was unanimously agreed their new nation would be a monarchy. Originally, he wrote the laws to allow an elected council to assist in lawmaking and, should the Sovereign act not in the country and people's best interest, have the power to overrule and even remove the Sovereign from power. It has never been done, but the law is still present. The royal family has always been raised with a heavy sense of duty and honor. None were born with the "right" to rule, they had to earn every bit of respect and power they wished to hold.
