Dimi Hielchen was revealed to have enormous magical potential from a very early age. He seemed to be drawn to magical spots wherever he went as if he was able to feel the natural magic seep from the surroundings, something that was completely unheard of before. He was born in Erith in Olcha, a smaller town where his parents ran a small shop to earn their living.
No one else in his close family at the time had shown signs of being Magicae, so it came as a shock to the entire family. The town was badly in need of Sorcerers so it was a positive surprise, it would most likely secure their son a well-paying and stable job in the future.

Magical Education

There was only one other magica in the area Dimi lived in and his parents realized he'd need a mentor the day his abilities were unlocked. So Dimi's mentor became an old woman of the age of 74. Her area of expertise was healing and easing the pain of a patient, which in itself was extremely useful, but Dimi dreamed of learning how to use the magical energy for many things and not just one thing.
His magic was unlocked at The Shrine of Aralican the day he turned 18 and he soon showed signs of being a magical prodigy. He mastered all of the things his mentor knew how to do within the first two years. His parents ended up sending him to Bechlea were he mastered his magic abilities.

When Dimi returned to his area after another 7 years had passed, his hometown had bloomed and the area was thriving. More Magicae had been born and some had moved there. But what was missing in Olcha was a place were all of these people could be taught how to direct the magical energy. Most had no chance to go to Bechlea to learn. This gave Dimi the idea, that he could build his own school where he could teach magic. He started out in the backroom of his parent's shop were the number of students grew, after a year they couldn't fit them all into the room anymore and Dimi knew he had to find a new place. He went to the lord of Olcha and somehow managed to convince him to find and donate materials to the building, but Dimi himself had to figure out how to get it built. His solution you may ask? Teach his students how to build using magic. It was a bit difficult, a couple of windows were broken and Dimi was almost squashed by a giant rock. It took them all 15 months to build The Magicae Tower of Dimilnen. An impressive tower which was to be a school.
The tower was built in a pretty remote place, right in the middle of Olcha so it could be reached from many places. Dimi and his students lived in the tower at first, but there was limited space in there. It didn't work with students sleeping in the rooms where they made potions. That became apparent after one student knocked a vial down in his sleep which in turn ate holes in every floor all the way down to the basement. Therefore Dimi and his students built a small settlement next to the tower, the students called it Dimilnen as a joke but the name caught on. Soon the settlement went from consisting of 8 houses to a over a hundred and Dimilnen became a well-known spot on the map.

Legacy

Magic Education

Due to Dimi's amazing ideas of starting a proper school and giving his students the tools to master magic, the number of well trained Magicae increased drastically. Other Magic schools shot up other places, and tried to compete with the Tower over the students, but none of them ever became as great as the one Dimi founded. Most students chose the Tower as their first choice and the other schools only had the student's who couldn't afford to travel or didn't get accepted into the Tower.

The High Order

Dimi was also the first High Sorcerer of Edrea and he was an adviser to the lord of Olcha for many years, which many high sorcerers after him became as well.
He also created The High Order which at first had the task of running the Tower. But it became an influential organization a couple of hundred years after his death, with ties to the king of Edrea. The High Sorcerers of the Order often acted as advisers to the nobles and the King.

Top Hats

Dimi was usually never seen without his infamous hat, he had called it the "top hat" himself. At first, many laughed at him and just shook their head. Everyone knew he was an eccentric man, but the hat was something they hadn't seen coming. His students started wearing top hats as well after a while and when they went home to their respective areas they somehow managed to spread the fashion. The hat is usually referred to as a "top hat", "Dimi hat" or simply just "the Dimi".
