Clan Hamlen

A minor Rethemi Noble Clan, lead by Baron Rarval Hamlen. They had acquired lands beyond is home estates of Deya and Haudy through cunning and murders. However their schemes backfired and all of their lands were lost when the Earldom of Ithiko was invaded in the Tormau Rebellion.

This family is extinct with all clan members dead, most at the hands of people they have wronged.

Rarval Hamlen, Clanhead

A ruthless schemer. Considered a fine example of a Rethemi Lord. Killed by Athena Pallas in 723TR. Refer Session 163 - Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold.

Family Members

Emelia Hamlen

Wife of Rarval. All of her family and lands were lost during Ezar's War. Killed herself after learning of her husbands death in 723TR. 

Gerharn Hamlen

Rarval's heir and second son, handsome and charming knight. Has a way with the ladies but is every bit as devious as his father but maybe not as smart. He was killed in single combat by Dame Athena Pallas. Refer Session 095 - Killing Your Betrothed.

Ralgin Hamlin, Priest of Agrik

Raval’s eldest son who who chose priesthood instead of his claim to his father's lands. He is a Priest of Agrik being a talented member of the Order of Hepra the Mace, based in the temple at Ithiko. He was killed by Athena Pallas in 721TR. Refer Session 76 - Massacre at the Alienage.

The Hamlens made a good income from Stygian Dye, a popular intense black dye obtained from obtained from a crab, nicknamed Morgaths's Crawlers, who infest the roots of the roots of the local Mangroves found only between the coastal settlements of Deya and Avonel.

History

650TR - The Hamlens trace their ancestry to the later stages of King Arun rule, likely as joining his armies as mercenaries and awarded lands for service.

715TR - The Hamlens acquire Avonel Manor after the entire Clan Pallas, with the exception of Athena Pallas who escaped, are murdered by bandits, this was a conspiracy planned by the clan head Ravel Hamlen and the Earl of Ithiko.

718TR - The estuary near Deya Keep starts to die, probably due to a magical blight or curse. Attempts to acquire expert arcane help have failed.

721TR - Civil war breaks out in Rethem. The Hamlens take the side of the Crown against the Earl of Tormau. Ralgin Hamlen is killed by Athena Pallas while recruiting mercenaries in the City of Cherafir. Refer Session 076 - Massacre at the Alienage.

722TR - The Hamlen's estates including its primary Keep of Deya are lost during the Tormau Rebellion. Dame Athena Pallas kills Gerharn Hamlen in single combat. Refer Session 095 - Killing Your Betrothed. Clan head Raval Hamlen escapes before Deya surrenders.

823TR - The Rethemi Civil War concludes with the rebels wining. All of the Hamlens lands are forfeited and granted to Dame Athena Pallas.

Baron Raval Hamlen hires a mercenary company and returns to Deya intending to trap and kill Athena Pallas. His plans fail and he is destroyed. Refer Session 163 - Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold.

Clan Hamlen is now officially extinct.
