The Demon Embassy

The Demon Embassy
by ArtisticArmoury
The demon embassy is the second largest building in the world, only beaten by the Highking’s castle in Darʌkys. Originally it was a village of ivierae that banded together to defend themselves from the Symilf kingdom during the AA era. After the Human-Ivierae War, most of the Angalts and Emvulds resettled in other parts of the country while the Benoists mainly stayed to build up the village. As the City of Tllal was founded and expanded beyond the village, the original area was claimed by Lord Cassius; which he used to expand his home, and eventually build an embassy later on. The design of the embassy was inspired by his home world, Hell, where many Lords have castles that span the width of large cities. As large as the embassy is currently, he hopes to expand the castle even more, larger than what his father was able to make.

Purpose / Function

Originally it was just made to allow vampires to easily immigrate to Mirthae. Over time it expanded to inside all demons from Hell, as well as offering various services like education and housing.

Design

In the deepest section of the second basement, a portal leads to the connected room of the Mirthaen Embassy in Hell. It’s a naturally constructed cave, being the longest one to exist in Fzalder (spanning over 300 miles. The portal sits at the deepest part of the cave, which is near the middle of the cave, just a few miles West from the Demon Embassy. There’s a multitude of different sections of rooms within the maze area of the cave.

Entries

There’s 10 separate entries in the second basement, most of which are heavily guarded or locked up. Only one is a magical entrance (being the portal), with the rest being man made as smaller tunnels.

Sensory & Appearance

The lighting is low, but not too dim to affect the vision of average cave-dwelling demons in the cave. It’s very warm, and enchanted to be rather comforting for visitors of the cave.

Denizens

Rats, salamanders, some species of fish, and many bats make the cave their home. Demons that can only exist in caves are often hired to protect the entire Eastern half of the cave system, and spend most of their lives in it.

Contents & Furnishings

Long winding walls of stone span around the portal, which works as a way to confuse any potential unwanted cave explorers. In the main area where the portal is, there’s a bunch of couches for immigrants to sit at, bookcases full of different types of reading material, and a few desks for workers of the embassy to provide services those entering Mirthae.

Valuables

Various works of art can be found throughout the entire Eastern half of the cave system often made by the guards of the cave. Paintings, stone sculptures, pottery with clay imported from Hell, and especially mosaics were most common. Some subsections of rooms hold actual money, being the pay owned by the guards that they collectively share.

Hazards & Traps

Most traps are simple trip wires that activate alarms for the guards, or a trap door.

Alterations

It’s had multiple stages of expansions since its creation. Before being repurposed into an embassy, it was a small village meant for the Benoists, Angalts, and Emvulds, to work together in a base during the Human-Ivierae War.   After the war ended, it became the Benoist’s de facto residence. The main base that the families stayed in was refreshed to become a castle-like residence.   After Highking Yøn suggested that the previous embassy be moved, Lord Cassius suggested it be moved to Fzalder, where he lives since he already helps run it. The area was then reworked to become one large castle- similar to what he lived in during his time in Hell. Originally it was only one floor, until Lord Cassius decided it would be a good idea to provide temporary housing for demons acclimating to a new plane of existence, and was then expanded to three floors, and two levels of basements.   The last major alteration came from Lennon, who decorated the entire embassy in Hell plants both as a way to magically strengthen the structure, but also as a place for demons to chill and reminisce about their home.

Defenses

For structural defences, it has thick walls, thin window slits, machicolations, towers, and barbicans.   Magic wise, Eilis has a magical barrier surrounding the castle, and Lennon has plants interwoven into the structure (both to reinforce the heavy structure, as well as to help provide resources to magic users).
