Jackson's Planet
Jackson's Planet is the sixth and furthest planet of the Deneb System. Despite the luminosity and size of Deneb, Jackson's Planet is intensely cold, with surface temperatures typically around -245 degrees celsius. The planet is named for its discoverer, Dr. Hannah Jackson, who was the Chief Science Officer onboard the Chrysanthemum when it landed on Unity. The planet has been developed as a major research site, initially named the Jackson Research Facility, but later renamed to the Commonwealth Applied Engineering Laboratory, or CAEL. The extensive supercomputers of the CAEL complexes use the planet's thick ice sheets to absorb heat, keeping them at an extremely cool and efficient temperature. Large sections of the planet are sealed off for military use, primarily weapons testing and Colonial Marine maneuvers. The planet is orbited by a major Deneb Habitat Complex orbital that provides services, amenities, and zero-g research facilities to the scientists on the planet.
