Edda "Eddi" the Fisher

Edda grew up as the odd child in multiple ways - she was the only girl out of four children and the only adopted child. Shortly after she was born, her father's estranged sister showed up on his doorstep, and begged him to take her child in. Knowing he could not refuse his dying sister, he took in the young Edda.Additionally, she has always had traits that were different, such as good vision in darkness. She never understood the need for candles when going to the outhouse late at night.   Being the black sheep and only girl in the house, she has constantly had to prove herself. This resulted in her learning many skills throughout her life in order to prove she can do anything her brothers could do, some things can't be learned. One youthful summer day she was challenged to lift a tree trunk by her eldest brother. Not one to turn down a contest with her siblings, she accepted but failed miserably. Despite her failure, they all recall the day fondly. Eventually, she became an accomplished fisher, and even something of a local legend in Wunschau in that regard.   As they grew, she took on more of a big sister role to her brothers. The four of them are close even today, and she wants to help them as she can - by finding them wives. None of the siblings are social butterflies, and she's no exception, but as the woman of her family she feels obligated to help them meet women to love.   On top of her obligation to her siblings, she also has a family of her own. She is relatively happily married, but her husband Friedrich doesn't appreciate her "free spirit", and this has caused troubles in their relationship. Edda will often disappear for a day or two to search for new fishing locations and women that would be good suitors for her brothers. While her husband's complaints are valid, she feels her desire for freedom is also valid.   Recently she has received a cryptic vision in her dreams - a lone pond in a foreign land. She feels a strong connection to the place despite never being there, and wishes to leave her responsibilities behind and find her destiny.   Edda is also haunted by a ghost fish only she can see. The ghost that haunts her was her greatest catch, a catfish so massive she could not lift it. So proud of her catch, she took it to show the townsfolk and receive praise. The fish, upset that it died for her vanity, vowed to haunt her every night. The fish jolts her awake from the edge of sleep with its chilling aura. Staring through her soul, the fish enters her dreams and turn them to nightmares; the roles are reversed: she is the prize catch to be shown to the other fish while she drowns, unable to fight or escape. She awakes in a cold sweat, horrified, only to meet her tormentor and its blank fishy stare. Edda often regales any who would listen with her fishing story.   Given her many skills and talents, Eddi is frequently solicited to perform various jobs for friends, neighbors, and local authorities. Recently, she was charged by the town council to row her boat upstream to Rotz, and to spread some money around in an effort to recruit healers and plague doctors to come back to work in Wunschau where, it is feared, the Plague is once again breaking out. She managed to bring back four - two plague doctors - Reinhard and Cilly , Dietmar - a friar who has a reputation as a healer, and Basil - a strange foreigner who tagged along with them. The local Vogt - Wolff - thanked her for her service, and then asked her and the people she had brought to investigate the disappearance of Ruprecht the Sexton, a local sexton, who, it turned out, had also survived death, and using magic, brought his assistants back beyond the grave as well. When defeating Ruprecht proved to be beyond their means, Eddi fled the house along with her companions, set it in fire, to prevent the walking dead from terrorizing the neighborhood, and then went back to the center of town to inform the Vogt about what had happened. Unfortunately, much of the vorburg of Westweg, where the sexton's house was located, had burned down.   Edda's amethyst eyes show a certain patience that few have, A well kept fishing rod protrudes from her pack that seems almost too heavy for her stringy frame. Her hair is loosely bunched behind her head save for some errant strands and a single braid that hangs beside her eye, frizzy from days of neglect.
