Folk Species in Malpos | World Anvil

Folk

Written by Milestone Play

The world is filled with many sentient peoples. The bulk of the most common races stem from a single lineage of peoples collectively known termed as Folk. This ancestry include humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, and gnomes. The majority of these peoples have found their ancestries pulled various directions. Despite these, the lot of them can still viably crossbreed. In most cases, one race will be the evidently dominant one with slight hints to the other race such as being at the extremes of stature for base race or having significant features (such as pointed ears for elves) muted or dulled. A person is usually referred to by their most dominant features. If an individual has three or more different races, their features will likely become muted together into what appears to be a human with touches of other races.   The following race options are cultural. You may choose to align your race selection with a group within the world for backstory and roleplay purposes. The choices do not have to line up with mechanical character options. For example, this setting’s Orchard Elves are functionally D&D High Elves. However, it is acceptable to choose the High Elf mechanics but belong to the Cycle Elf society.   The Following Folk have established cultures:
Humans: Nations of Phaloxil, Argil, Locath, Riscor-Calashen
Elves: Cycle, Orchard, Timberbank, and Tropical
Dwarves: Deep Cavern and Desert
Gnome:structured cultural identities based out of Lacington
Halfling: Clansmen and Mountain Men
