Sky
Sky was founded during the Unification of the Elph Nation. The Plains Giants had been decimated in early wars with the Elph, and largely replaced by the Half Giants. Most remaining Giants were either solitary or living in small family groups, and most Half Giants lived on the edges of Elph society.
A handful of surviving clans gathered together and migrated the Worlds Spine Mountains, north of what would one day become Haven, and founded the first known Giant settlement since the arrival of the Elph. The city attracted Half Giants and some Elph seeking new beginnings.
As the gateway to the northern wastes, Sky became a frequent waypoint for adventurers and scholars, and eventually grew into a cosmopolitan city in it’s own right. The houses and buildings of the city cling to the sides and the top of the mountains and are connected by everything from magnificent stone bridges, to simple rope gangways.
The city has become known for it’s relatively secluded life style. Citizens of Sky are rarely social, even with their neighbors. However, the laws of the city are brutally enforced, and often publicly. Foreigners who break the laws of Sky are strung up on the path to the city, and citizens are executed by crushing in the town square. Sky is the only Free City where slavery is expressly forbidden and Slavehunters who attempt to enter the city are killed on sight.
