Haven
Haven was the first Human city founded on Shin Ferin. The city was built by Crassus’ expedition after their self imposed exile from the Empire of Man. Originally the city enjoyed a peaceful relationship with the Elph nation, who welcomed the humans and even aided them in building their settlement and taming the magics of the new land.
In the earliest days, Haven was little more then a bustling village, dwarfed by the Elph cities and the nearby Giant city of Sky. However as trade with the Elph began to boom and the population swelled, the city began to expand outside of the bounds originally given to the Expedition by the Elhp Nation. The rapid growth of Haven and the shifting balance of the trade between the two nations would eventually lead to The Trade War, which was ended by the Treaty of Kindwater.
Today Haven is a large port city and serves as the base for the Itinerant Militia as well as the main port for trade between the Free Cities and the Empire of Man. The city center is dominated by Haven college, a university constructed in the grand tradition of the Imperial University in Spyre. Though the College is much younger than it’s Imperial counterpart, scholars and magi from all nations and races come to study, and it’s library has a massive collection of literature donated by the Elph and Zerk nations, and even some scrolls and books donated by traveling Blade Dancers. Havens population is majority human, however members of every race call the city home and enjoy the same rights.
Crassus the Immortal and a congress of elected officials oversee the governance of the city, however the government is overwhelmingly human. In the history of the city only a handful of Elph have ever served on Crassus’ Council, and no other race has ever been elected.
