Kolovul

Kolovul is a lieutenant of Grey Wolf. He first appeared in Grey Wolf's Realm, inviting the Serpent Slayers, who had just gone through the portal into the realm, to enter his master's fortress through the Maw Gate. After Yuri refused to leave the realm without Agapia, Kolovul was sent in to "finish him", and subdued him. The following day, Yuri's battered, bruised, and unconscious body was belched out of the portal to the realm at the bottom of a huge oak tree.    Kolovul subsequently appeared in Malinka, after Grey Wolf's minions had taken it over. He spoke to Lokan(person:9f69caa9-15a1-4055-b57f-c9a2fd2db05e), who arrived shortly after the conquest, related the story of the wolves' victory, and then invited Lokan to join him on a scouting expedition of @[Vladykino. He also showed Lokan a sleeping Grey Wolf on the floor of Malinka's desecrated church. That night, along with a group of other wolves, Kolovul and Lokan ran to Vladykino. Lokan convinced Kolovul to allow him to investigate the village by himself, and after justifying his actions to his companions, found himself at Yuri's and Svetlana's wedding. While that was transpiring, Kolovul sneaked into the village in the form of an enormous wolf, killed Zorina's horse, and was cornering a woman, before Yuri, Zorina, and Lokan arrived to aid her. The three together subdued Kolovul, first as a wolf, then in human form, and bound him. Lokan also took Kolovul's sabre, which turned out to be cursed, and had a thirst for blood. After waking, Kolovul accused Lokan of being a traitor to his kind. He then demanded to be served drink, as he had come to a wedding. After being served, he recited Grey Wolf's agenda, asserting that revenge and rulership was the wolves' right, and dismissed Lokan's arguments that the wolves stood no chance against humans. He likewise scoffed at Vorobei's insistence that the god of the Gaalites was the same as the old god Dazhbog. But he did praise Yuri as a man of honor, and after Yuri decided to release him, he expressed hope that the two of them would yet confront each other in a fair fight, adding cryptically that Yuri may also have need of him. He then left, and did not return while the Serpent Slayers were in the village.       It is possible, though not certain, that Kolovul's pack returned to destroy Vladykino after the Serpent Slayers had gone to the Cave of the Sleeping Bogatyrs. Both Misha Rzhevsky and Alden arrived in the village a day later, only to see it burned down, its people butchered, and a band of wolves enjoying a party with leftover beer as they abused remaining prisoners. The leader of the band roughly matched Kolovul's description as given by Yuri and Zorina. Misha attempted to charge the pack, but the leader spooked his horse, and threatened to kill the remaining prisoners, so Misha had to back down (though he did manage to rescue Mira). Alden also conversed with the leader, trying to argue, as Lokan did before him, that the wolves stood no chance of conquering the humans. The leader suggested that Alden go to neighboring villages and announce the wolves' coming, if he did not want to fight. Alden then followed him and the rest of the pack back to Malinka, but separated himself from them along the way, and returned to Vladykino. Kolovul has not been seen by the Serpent Slayers since.    Physically, he is a huge, hirsute man with glowing yellow eyes in human form, but can also turn into a wolfman, and a large dire wolf. As a human and hybrid, he dresses in heavy armor, and wields either a sabre (subsequently taken by Lokan) or a morning star.
