Cumia (khoo - mee- ahh)
Cumia is mostly tropical rainforest and jungle, dense plantlife and marshes. Nearly every mile of the planet is occupied by a single "city" which is actually just millions of small stilt homes, docks, boathouses, river shacks, etc strung together. Massive reptiles and insects live amongst the residents.
Geography
100 percent of the planet's surface is covered in shallow water. The dense soil just beneath the water's surface serves as the substrate for thousands of unique species of plants, fish, trees, flowers and insects. The planet is verdant and covered in large trees which are in turn covered in climbing vines.
In order to travel along the shallow water's surface, the Kedin have developed small boats that skim or hover over the water's surface keeping them safe from hidden roots and vine systems just below.
Ecosystem Cycles
There is a moving tide that seems to round the planet every 35 days or so. The tide rises in the south and moves to the north over time. The time an area will experience high tide is well known and, even with a variance of a day or two, is easy to prepare for. During high tide, the Kedin fish as the extra surface water gives the creatures fewer hiding spots. The Kedin also use high tide to transport goods in larger boats that would otherwise be unable to move through the shallow water.
Fauna & Flora
All flora and fauna of Cumia are creatures well acclimated to water. The animals of the planet are primarily fish, insects and reptiles. However one large furred quadraped, the laguar, has managed to survive and thrive on the planet through the extinction of most other animals of the type. Serpents, large lizards and carnivorous fish dominate the food chain. The insects of Cumia are large and voracious, which helps to keep the lush greenery at bay.
