Whencis
Stalks grow from the ground above massive twisting roots, each stalk dropping down massive emptied pea pods, apartments and buildings secreted within.
Gold and white flowers bloom over the roots, a mass of wild and domesticated pollinators weaving between flowers to return to nests and hives and capture containers. Honey and wax are the main exports of Whencis, along with Septum - a liquid food made by the Calago Bug .
The gardens of Whencis rest against the inner wall ring of Whencis (a reminant of the Solaris dispute ), though the city itself spills out past this inner wall for many a habitat.
Whencis sits on the edge of the mountain range that cuts most of West Solaris away from the east. This makes Solaris a hub of this far north, both by land and by air. More southward is Saburra, and more northward is the waters of Oceanus, but Oceanus has turbulent waters and Minas Alis around this Longitude, and travelling down to Saburra just to come up puts a strain on anyone trying to trade within the country.
The West side of Whencis sports the market, a trading space permanently set up to trade in and out goods and transfer goods for fuel (both feed and gas) that is brought up from other segments of the country.
Running a loop around the city is the "way of goods" a deep cavern that acts as a road, constantly full of carts that take things from the east dock to the west dock and market. Waystations supply water from the natural pool that bubbles water from the nearby aquifer.
Rainwater tanks also dot the city, supplying the root mass During the drier months of the year.
The city is run by a Grandmother, the oldest and wisest woman in Whencis (elected by the people and held in place by an eligibility test every 5 years or when needed). This style of rule is seen elsewhere in Levis, although Whencis is determined to keep the tradition matriarchal, with even assistants being presenting feminine.
Cyclones and Whencis
Whencis has been hit by 3 cyclones in the last 100 years of recorded history. The worst was Cyclone Sortakay.
While the root masses of the city were untouched by wind damage, most of the pea pods were ripped from their stalks, damaging the houses and businesses inside. While most air vehicles were moved on, the moorings and those that remained took massive damage. Most inhabitants of the city had to retreat to the caves in the mountain to survive. This has produced a recent generational relationship between Whencis and the god of stone and bloodshed (whom they have named Apolity ).
The other problem with Sortakay was the slow response by the royal house of Solaris, whose efforts were more centred around reconstructing the market of Whencis than the habitats of the hamlet. The older generation, especially the Grandmother remembers this and as such certain trade problems have arisen around royal shipments.
