Infinity Gates
Two massive trees make a tilted arch between the plains in the centre of Levis, and the kingdom of Solaris. Circuits in stark blue are painted along the surface of each tree. With complex walls grown on each side, the trees make the border between civilisation and the wilds passable, and welcome the travelling Horned Bison between these connected but separate zones.
Water cascades down between the trees and the ground, the circuits in part guiding the water into channels that force it back up the trunks to start the process again. Where it would collect on things passing through the gate, magic draws it back into the flow of things, circulating the liquid in an endless cycle.
Cleansing and the gate
Many see passing through the gates from the outside of Solaris as a cleansing experience. The act is seen as different from a religious experience and instead something more spiritual, as journeyers are left dry but the feel of the wild left behind and instead the civility of Solaris is given to them. With this, many from Solaris see the wilds as 'other' and while they believe in keeping it safe and healthy, it is seen as a passage into danger to pass through the gates to outside the kingdom.
When the kingdom of Solaris expanded south after the Xylos invasion, it was proposed in this same protective and cleansing guise to extend the wall and the gate south, with a new gate at the entrance to the new barony of the kingdom, though, for now, those plans are on hold.
The gates sound absolutely beautiful. I can see how some would see it as almost a spiritual experience to pass through them.
