Clearing the Ogres' New Home Report
General Summary
Sukasi 36
Post battle the rest of the group notices that Barclay is gone. They are, of course, aware that Barclay is skittish and tends to run away. Clayton first asks if Barclay could be down the hole, then realises that he can contact Barclay mentally through his EarthLink. He does so, at first freaking out Barclay. Clayton teases and pretends to be a ghost, at first, which Barclay does not appreciate.
Clayton urges Barclay to come down. Barclays says, "No! It's scary down there. And Emil and Liliké and Tabitha are here." So, Barclay takes the coins they found already and hangs them from a tree like one does for food to keep it away from a Bear.

Nothing happens overnight.
A grizzly bear wanders by in the morning, but Barclay manages to hear it coming, so they move the horses and wagon across the bridge to avoid the bear. The bear starts snuffling through the remains of the campfire. Barclay decides that they have to make a lot of noise to scare the bear away. Instead, it rouses the bear's curiosity and it comes closer to them, sniffing and grunting to see what that's all about. After a bit it decides that they are no threat and begins to eat the berries on the nearby bushes, once in a while looking over to see if Barclay and company are doing anything.
Clayton, Saiya, and Felix go back to the cave entrance and see that Barclay and co. have moved everything across or onto the bridge. Clayton is puzzled by the large bear that is across the bridge, as he's never seen a bear this size before. Felix convinces him to leave it alone in case it becomes aggressive. They head back into the tunnels, after Clayton mourns not being able to pet the bear.
They go back in and head to the right this time. The cavern leads on for several metres, then there is an end which has four pillars near and beside a set of double doors, and to the right there is a short tunnel that leads to another door. They go straight. Saiya decides to search for traps and finds one that is disarmed through a puzzle on the pillars. Clayton then goes to the doors and picks the lock.
Once inside this area it widens out into a large area with high ceilings. There is a short passage on the right after about 5 metres, and just past it there is one on the left. They choose the right passage. There are also pillars at the entrance to this short passage. They investigate these, finding no traps. They go to the door and try to find traps once again, but hear a loud click and whir sound on the other side of the door. All but Clayton leave the area. Clayton uses magic to blast through the door, basically blowing the door away.
Through the dust Clayton can see six lights glowing from the walls, placed evenly around the room, and one light coming from the centre of the room. Felix comes in and goes to the doorway, waiting for the dust to settle. He sees six pillars with orbs set about Barclay's height on short pillar. Felix casts "know essence" on the orbs. They are magical lights set into the pillars.
Barclay and talks to the ghostly figure in the centre of the room. As he does this they hear a noise behind them and the door has reformed and is solid and closed. They address the figure in the middle of the room and get no answer. They ask how to get out and the figure appears to laugh, it forms more visually and is a middle-aged human woman that merely looks at them and laughs.
Barclay attempts several times to flirt with the ghostly woman, but is continually ignored. Clayton and Felix examine the pedestal. Eventually Barclay loses patience and stands on the pedestal. The woman there looks kind of puzzled, then ignores Barclay.
The group is getting frustrated with their inability to find anything in here or a way out. Eventually Barclay says, "This is all an illusion!" And everyone is stunned with this revelation, and it fades out for everyone, one at a time.
They see that the door has not repaired itself. They find three human skeletons with their old gear, and get 46 blun, 3 knives, a score of arrows with cloth piercing arrow heads.
They head across to the other passage. The tiles along the hallway leading in are cracked with age. When they open the door, everyone holds back. Clayton inspects the area and notices that there are hidden runes on the floor for about 18" past the entryway. Felix touches the area with his staff, and the staff is burned to ash. He then tosses a knife across and nothing happens.
They all enter the room. There is an alter at the other side of the room with what appears to be a statue of a demon on it. They start to search around it and a winged, demonic creature appears on the alter. Saiya shoots it to no effect. It strikes her helm multiple times, destroying her helm. Clayton strikes it with his spear - nothing happens.
Clayton casts a spell on it that covers it in mold, which makes it pause and stand on the alter and heal very quickly. He then strikes it with a rot spell, taking half of its face off, which is starts to heal almost immediately. As it starts to move again Felix casts a spell that switches the water from his canteen with the air in its lungs (dirge of drowning), and the creature goes nuts, screaming and howling and flying about the room, He holds the spell for a full minute, and the demon collapses on the floor and fades away.
They now search the alter and find that the eyes of the statue are made of solid garnet. Felix pries those out. Each is ~7 cubic centimetres. This gives them up to 679 manna each.
