Ækstan Isle

Ækstan Isle is the largest of the islands off the south coast of the Lainshoan continent. It is named after the human Kingdom of Ækstan, which is the dominant human organization on the island. Most of the settlements on Ækstan Isle are on the protected north coast and under the control of The Kingdom of Ækstan. There are some freehold settlements on the southern part of the island; however, these small independent settlements often struggle with the difficulties and dangers of life on Lainshoa. As well, there are several Jarai settlements throughout the interior mountains of the island who trade with the various human settlements. There are also Mayjho, and other species living on the island, Humans do control the ship traffic to and from the island.   The island itself is largely covered in mountains and forest or jungle. There are rumours of ancient runes that contain hidden secrets or treasures throughout the island, but it's rare to hear of anyone finding these. Some rumours say that many have tried, but few ever return.   The island is warm year round, as it is quite close to the equator. Seasonal storms can be a challenge and any settlement near the southern or eastern coast are particularly hard hit with these, so will prepare accordingly. Additionally, they can be prey to pirates or raiding Mizar parties. There have even been reports of sea monsters coming close and attacking fishermen and trade ships off the south coast.   Much of the island is covered in mountain and jungle forests. There is some farming, which is protected by human settlements. Mining is abundant in the mountain ranges, and sometimes a point of dispute between human and Jarai interests.
