Human Species in Lainshoa | World Anvil

Human

Humans.... The most populous of the intelligent species on the known world.   These are the not only the most prolific peoples, but also the most varied. Everywhere they are, they seem a little different. They change rapidly, they adapt quickly, and they are quite violent when compared to other species.   Humans are not originally from Lainshoa, according to legend and stories from the elder races (Ælfs, Jarai, and Mayjho). Rather, they came across an interplanar void created by accident. Most seem to have come from similar cultural backgrounds, and stories told to the elder races by the first humans indicate that there were many other ethnicities on their original world, but most never came to Lainshoa.   Where humans have settled and proliferated the elder species have suffered. Humans dominate much of the world now, as they out breed all of the elder races, and outfight the others. They are nasty, brutal, intelligent, and greedy - at least by the standards of Lainshoan native species. And they are considered dangerous and strange by all others. Still, most have learned to get along with them, even if it's sometimes unsettling. Humans are considered fickle by the elder races. How else could such a young-lived species be, when their rulers change several times in the lifetime of an elder species?   Humans learn quickly. This gives them an advantage over most other species. They are much more changeable and adaptable than those native to Lainshoa. Humans are capable of learning every skill ever known, and have discovered things never before known in the thousands of years of Lainshoan history. They are a boon, and a curse, to the world, for they have changed it more than any others have.
