Wrain's Hall, a town in Mitlind, found itself terrorised by a series of murders.

Among the victims were two agents of House Canter, who had been compiling information on the guards and the town's other notable inhabitants.

When a group of adventurers came to town, with the help of the local chapter of the Mitlind Priory, they found that it was the captain of the guard dispensing vigilante justice. But his soul had been corrupted by greed as his wife, a member of the House Farlow banking guild had written their son as the sole benefactor in her will.
