Cedric “Sedge” Hathorne is a member of the Hathorne family, the powerful group that runs Hathorne Industries.
About 5 years ago, Sedge, failed to persuade his grandfather, John Hathorne to repurpose the factory to create something that didn't destroy the environment. After he was rebuked, he opened Hathorne Recycling about a mile down the road. It's not a moneymaker, not like the cup factory, but Cedric believes that his contacts in China and Malaysia have the tech and expertise to turn thrown-out plastic into reusable materials.
Rumor has it New Pembroke isn't doing as well as Faith Ridge, fiscally, because their families have dirt on Sedge Hathorne.
Sedge is building a new house near the shores of Horsethief Lake. It is very modern and environmentally friendly. New Pembroke Construction is working on the project. Eustacia Booker has recently been promoted to be in charge of the project. Rumor also has it that the Hathornes are pushing really hard to get in control of even more real estate surrounding the lake. But who would want to own Horsethief Lake? It’s more like a swamp these days.
