Toptower
Once a lone tower fort designed to guard passage through central Demarn, this town is renowned for the large tower that is its namesake. It's the final bastion against invasion from the Udynea Empire in the south. During the Destruction of the Demarn Army Encampment, it became a haven for the few fortunate survivors as well as terrified people from neighbouring farmholds.
Industry & Trade
Toptower does a solid trade with the surrounding farmers who funnel their goods through the town on their way to the army.
Districts
The central tower was erected sometime during Ancient Domian occupation of what became the Kingdom of Demarn, making the structure several thousand years old. It sits atop a hill, giving it a bigger appearance than it truly is, and appears to be built entirely from lapiscor and houses the town's mayor.
The rest of the town is far newer, having been built in stages over the first few hundred years the kingdom was formed. These structures are far more modest buildings of common stone and wood. A single wall surrounds the town with three gates opening north, east and west, the latter mostly used by those heading for Demarn's army encampment.
Unlike most of Demarn's older settlements, there aren't any structures directly outside of the outer walls. With the army encampment, and the war with Udynea, a few days from Toptower, no one wishes to remain next to such a big target without also getting its protection. This is also why most farmhouses are set a good day's wagon-ride away.
