Church of Man

The Church of Man was originally founded to record, discover and spread the teachings of Man. Shepherds of the church provide spiritual and moral guidance to dogs in their everyday lives, while studying the texts and relics of Man and keeping them safe. The church sponsors many archaeological activities, providing oversight to make sure that the relics of Man are treated with respect and care... and to keep an eye out for as yet unrevealed reliquaries.   Many shepherds take it upon themselves to tend to the poor, old, orphaned, hungry, and sick, with a few even offering support to cats.

History

Founded near Labpark in the year 0 by Saint Frances Berger Picard. The original focus of the church was to teach the Code of Man and the ancient ways of detecting The Unseen, which allowed Dog civilization to expand into larger cities. The Labrador Family were early converts, and were heavily involved in evangelical activities.   Saint Bernard St Bernard discovered the first Reliquary in the Plains of Wonder, which grants magical powers of healing when used for the Ritual of Transubstantiation. This began a movement within the church to focus on healing the sick. Saint Fu Chow Chow discovered a second Reliquary in the Plains of Wonder, which granted him powers to fight evil which were instrumental in the War of Demons.   Since then, the focus of the church has shifted to spiritual guidance, as well as research and preservation of artifacts of Man.

Worship

Priesthood

Shepherds of the church study for many years in monasteries, churches, and exploring the ruins of Man. Only dogs are permitted to train as shepherds.   Head shepherds are assigned to cathedrals and parishes by the leader of the church, and select their own assistants and trainees.   Some are travelers, aiding others on the road or in small villages. Others dedicate themselves to the wilds to refine their techniques of healing or combat. Still others specialize in recovering, studying or preserving artifacts of man.

Granted Divine Powers

The Ritual of Transubstantiation grants Shepherds of the church with magical healing and defensive powers.
