Kingdom of Labsdoodle
Coastal dog kingdom founded by the Labrador family, who still rule as the royal family.
Demography and Population
With a population of about 120 thousand, most of which live near the capitol of Labpark, the fortress city of Fort Akita, or in the rich farmlands between these cities. Port Barbeta and the surrounding area has been increasing in population density, though it still remains lower than the rest of the kingdom.
Military
The Royal Army of Labsdoodle has numerous barracks scattered throughout the realm, but the main force is currently held at Fort Akita.
Technological Level
Shipbuilding is still experimental and boats are not yet suited to open ocean voyages, only short coastal expeditions.
Philosophy is still primitive, as is mathematics. Natural sciences are under the umbrella of history.
Magic is widely studied, but poorly understood.
Foreign Relations
The dogs have a shaky relationship with the Cat Kingdoms to the south, though they are on amicable terms with the independent cat towns of Camembert and Troutton.
The rats are generally believed to be minions of the Unseen, and organized groups are generally distrusted.
Foxes, coyotes and bobcats are all recognized as independent keepers of the wilds. Of the three, only the foxes have expressed much interest in engaging with dog and cat society.
The merdogs are a curious but friendly group, eager to share strange stories they've collected on their journeys each year.
Agriculture & Industry
Agriculture is of the utmost importance, with many fields of various grains, and numerous ranchers of sheep, hogs, goats, cattle and poultry.
Trade & Transport
Roads have been established connecting Port Barbeta in the south-east, up past Fort Akita north to ranchlands.
Cat traders from the south come through Sunninghill to Port Barbeta, and occasionally caravans of Lizards pass through either from the north or the south, carrying with them exotic wares.
Education
Small schools are often organized by the church to teach puppies (and sometimes even older dogs) how to read and write, the Code of Man and the history of the kingdom.
The University of Labpark is more selective, and focuses on in depth study of magic, history and philosophy. However, the extension program, the Royal Pioneers welcomes all would be adventurers, providing training in natural history, survival and sometimes combat.
