Cat Kingdom
An alliance of sovereign duchies south-east of the Kingdom of Labsdoodle, the border between Port Barbeta and Sunninghill is disputed.
The King or Queen of the kingdom is elected from among the current heads of the six houses, and is a lifelong position.
Cat society is highly individualistic, and secrets are extremely important to organizations, families and individuals. After years of war, the houses prefer to build their castles and strongholds in mountain regions, with lesser cats farming the plains.
Cats in the kingdom are separated into four castes: the ministers, the ruling/warrior caste, the artisan/merchant caste, and the laboring caste. It is believed that cats may reincarnate into a higher caste or a lower caste depending on their actions in this life.
History
House Mau and House Korat were the first of the kingdoms to form an alliance to defend against the roving warbands of the The Grey Wastes. House Rex has since expanded the kingdoms ever further north.
Technological Level
Due to the secretive nature of cat society, different groups operate with vastly different technologies and levels of scientific development. Overall, the kingdoms operate at a level similar to the Kingdom of Labsdoodle, with a poor collective understanding of science.
Religion
Highly individualized and secretive, religion in the kingdoms is a web of secret societies. The official state religion is in fact, mostly an organization to facilitate the practice of personal religions, respecting the secrets of others above all else.
Agriculture & Industry
Known for their artisans who produce fine silks, textiles, pottery, cabinetry and other luxury items.
Education
Typically handled within families or other organizations, with an emphasis on teaching secret codes, languages and histories known to the group. Knowledge that is freely given is often looked down upon as inconsequential, and thus kittens are encouraged to practice subterfuge in order to gain access to the knowledge of outside groups.
