Feast of the Harvest Moon

A celebration of the harvest, culminating in a feast. Children decorate round lanterns to celebrate the moon, and round sweet honey cakes are a popular treat.
Country homes often decorate altars with braided straw figures and seasonal fruits and vegetables, and it's common for the entire town to gather together for a communal feast at the local church. Farmers with abundant harvests restock the stores of the church for use by the less fortunate over winter.
In the city, particularly among the wealthy, lavish feasts are held with decorated carved fruit and vegetable centerpieces. Decorative but non functional farm implements are often used as decorations. Cathedrals will often organize a communal meal for the poor.
