Alain Thoran
Grandmaster Alain Tobran Thoran (a.k.a. The Scholar of Heldir)
Alain Thoran was one of the most distinguished scholars in recent history. He was known for publishing a library's worth of historical records and books, and was seen as one of the most historically informed people in Kalin.
He was also the Grandmaster of the Hall of Padnora under The Paladin Order in Heldir.

Personal history
Alain was born in a small city North of Heldir. He was the third son of the ruling lord there, which made him politically useless. As he grew up he was trained in the ways of warfare as any noble son might be, but he also took a love to books and history. When he came of age he officially joined The Paladin Order and took a Paladins Oaths via the local priest of Padnora.
His personal history after this point is something of a mystery. But he is known to have traveled far and wide as a young paladin. He became noticed once again when he began publishing history books about far away lands (from Heldir) such as Lyath'Or and The Gir'An.
He would eventually write his seminal work, A Codex of Kalin and the Fallen Cities, which has become a well known and popular history book for its ease of reading (many history books are hard to read) and its completeness. He published several new editions throughout his career, with the latest (and now last) edition coming out in 751 2A.
There are rumors that he helped tutor a young Zelena Stellings and brought her into the Paladin Order and oversaw her Paladin Oath, but this has been unconfirmed.

After the Year of the Dragon, The Wayfarers confirmed that Alain had died to Aenophentari in the Heldir desert near a Torvish ruin.
