The Paladin Order Organization in Kalin | World Anvil

The Paladin Order

Formed in the darkest era of the Great War the Paladin Order is a collection holy knights and warriors who are found throughout Kalin. Often referred to as “The Order” the Paladins usually worship The Mantle, the most widespread religion in Kalin. That said though within the order there are many subsects that hold slightly different tenants and worship different gods.   The Order is based out of the Fallen City of Heldir, which it practically controls. Many Paladins carry out missions of goodwill and protection on behalf of the Order directly, but many more wander on their own accord and only hold the Order as more of a general membership than something they work for on a regular basis. This doesn't account for the multitude of sub-orders, temples, and sects that dot Kalin. The primary thing that ties these differing believers and Paladins together is that any member of the Order could find safety and succor with any other hall or group of Paladins across Kalin, and that most Paladins take their Paladin Oath in a hall of the order, and their name is recorded and sent to Heldir for record keeping.   In recent history Paladins were subject to a widespread purge by many of the nations and Fallen Cities of Kalin due to duplicity. While the orders name is now cleared the widespread killing and imprisoning of the order has left many less Paladins in the world, and it’ll take a long time for them to truly rebuild their strength.

Structure

The Order is not very centralized. While the Grand Master has control of the entire order in theory, on the whole most Paladins wander about and pursue their own missions. Due the wide variety of gods and beliefs under the Mantle many Paladins will take their Oath, and then wander and never really interact with the order again.   The Order itself is broken down from its overall organization into further segmented sects, halls, temples, and sub-orders. Generally the only thing that ties these segmented orders together is that they ultimately declare themselves for the overall Order, usually giving a small tithe to the Order in Heldir in exchange for information, resources, new recruits, and a promise of help.

Public Agenda

The agenda of the Order as a whole tends to fluctuate depending on what Hall, Sect, or Monastery is being referenced. A Hall devoted to Suthan will emphasize learning and logic, while a Hall devoted to Idiomar may instead look more to honor and defending the innocent. On the whole though the Paladin Order is devoted to the Mantle and the spreading of its word and the protecting of its creations.
