Legends
The title of legend is not given lightly. Ideally, it is used sparingly, so much so that one person in a generation, or several, lives a life worthy to be dubbed, a legend. Legends are people who, through both good and evil, cement themselves in the cultural zeitgeist for many generations. These people effect change, either subtly or largely, on a wide enough scale to be remembered. What makes a legend is not clearly defined, but it is felt by those who think of the person or are made aware of them. This feeling is small, like a candle in an open field at noon. These people dubbed legends can be anyone, celebrities, rumors like Einglemir, the Night Walker, or cryptids like Shia the supposed Daich'chrain; religions have cropped up around legends and their deeds. However, not everyone becomes a legend. Even larger-than-life people like Yenech do not become legends and their memory fades like anyone else.
Despite the magnanimity of the memory, everything comes to an end and a legends legacy will too fade with time. Eventually.

Endowment
Whether through deeds of great good, great evil, or great change, those who earn the title legend are people whose memory transcends themselves. This means that most legends are endowed post-mortem as the range of an individual's influence is not often truly understood until they are gone. When mentioning the endowment of a legend, it is not something written or even really spoken but felt. And this feeling, this understanding of a legend is ambiguous and nigh impossible to put into words. It is clear who is and who is not a legend, the memories of those in the past permeating culture and whatnot. This has not stopped philosophers from trying to write down what makes a legend and the great self-absorbed from trying to extend their existence by becoming legends themselves. This has not often ended well as what makes a legend is as varied as those who are. The Witch of Knowledge, a notable living legend, has made her existence known by her vast swathes of knowledge and the story she, people say, purposefully enshrouded herself in. Where a legend like the Blood Queen had such heinous deeds done in a way that sticks with people that her legend status grew after stories passed and evolved over the years.Theories
Memory is part of the suzal. The collective subconscious will affect the suzal in ways no one can articulate or understand. And thus, legends, the mere being of their memory permeating through time is enough to have something happen to the original living personality. No one has been able to prove any of this, but philosophers say that the mere existence of a legend either makes them in the first place or creates a kind of ghost of the person.Instantiation
The theory of instantiation is that, due to the memory of a legend existing for a long time, that memory influences the past to create that memory in the first place. This creates a loop where the existence of a legend is caused by their existence. This could never be proven nor disproven as it creates a paradox that enforces the situation to always be and has been true or an impossibility. Most people lean towards the latter. However, the existence of a Trivis leaves some people wondering.Ghost
Ghosts have been both hypothesized and, though not proven, experienced. So, with legends being written about, dreamt about, and spoken about, the personality, spirit, or ghost may be able to hold on to the physical world longer than most others. With an exception of this, it causes further ideas to form. Is that ghost the original person, or a form generated from what people remember about them? If it is the original person, are they able to manipulate their perpetuated existence?Legends
